  15. Hello,
A fantastic video. I wish it was longer. You really have a great
personality for teaching photography and I was stuck to my chair just
watching you get the results you produced.
I do have one question, and it’s about light meters. How did you get away
with not having to measure the light that was hitting your subject?
I thought a light meter would make it a lot easier to get the amount of
light you required, but you seemed to just know.
    great stuff.

  29. Excellent! I like the way you explain and don’t just show. I started with
blue bulbs and reflectors back in the 70’s before "graduating" to strobes,
but I still have a couple of Photogenic lights with Fresnel lenses. I may
have to dust them off. Thanks!

  33. Very nice lighting & mood control! Especially with the added music: can you
tell me the name of the song & performer that comes in at the 14’43" mark
for the fantastic slide show at the end?

  34. Fantastic thanks for sharing.

  35. very cool lighting video.

  36. Hi Damien , rin some of the shots I can see there’s a lot of very dark
areas, are you to concerned if certain areas are completely blacked out ?
As when I do some portraits if certain areas are showing in Lightroom as
completely blacked out I try to lift them but then of course it he areas
start to look a little grainy, so should I worry too much about
that?…I’ve met you a few times on the photo roadshows….keep up the good
    work

  37. hi love grove. thanks for the post. your info is invaluable. in response
to your question about where you 5d is. were you joking when you said you
fuji is better than both your nikon and canon? what about the fuji is
better aside from the fact that it is smaller and more compact and
convenient. i only ask because i currently own apsc mirrorless and am
trying to decide whether to trade in for full frame 5d or nikon. thanks.

  38. Thank you Damian. I’ll be wherever I’m asked to be in the US next year.
Don’t sit back and guess. Request my presence and maybe we can make it
    happen. Cheers :)

  39. Aha, Henrique 15:37 well spotted. I shot through a chandelier 🙂

    Kind regards, Damien.

  40. Henrique Grande Neto

Very nice videos! What caused the effect at the picture seen in 15:37?
    Thanks!

  41. Magical! I’m in love with this type of lighting. I’ve been using speedlight
strobes for awhile now and am interested in these types of fresnel / barn
door lighting looks. I’m really excited to see where you’ll be in the US in
    2014.
